This eveningĀ  I am feeling very proud of myself, I have made the first object of my revised ‘Cunning Plan’.

I have named him ‘Albert’ and although he is a little simplistic – as I had planned – he has already sparked off a few ideas. He is 8cm tall by 16.8cm long and a maximum of 7mm thick. I think I may use this style as a basis for some colour testing over the next week, not too sure at this point. I’ll digest it a bit tomorrow and then get working. One down 51 to go!

To top this I also have some images of the second line of carving from yesterdays Spanish frame. This line of pattern always starts off feeling like it will be quick as the outline/guide for the pattern is fairly quick to put in, but it is deceptive in the carving and always takes longer than I expect. It is better to take be more careful and take slightly longer to carve than to rush through and then have to spend a lot of time repairing any damage afterwards – a lesson I should maybe take with me more often!

I do like carving this frame and it always looks good once it has been gilded. It is a nice solid kind of frame.

Tomorrow I’m moving on to a different type of frame – an Italian carved, I’ll see how far I get and what I have to show you then.
